The service was downright awful here. My negroni took forever-glad I'm not in a hurry when on vacation. Ants in my room. How luxurious! I expected at least a complimentary drink for the inconvenience. Almost left a good review but just couldn't deal with the disappointments.

Location; free use of bikes (although old); large outside terrace, especially for breakfast. Internet (when not out of order); newspapers; comfortable public sitting areas
Design of new steps from reception area to rear of hotel dangerous, also steps into new reception area, especially when wet. 'Ticket' menu and fact that menu was the same for lunch and supper two days running.

This hotel is right on an amazing stretch of beaches in a quiet town. The seaside rooms have perfect views of the bay and are a stone's throw from the water. There are walking trails and Roman ruins. The continental breakfast was great, the restaurant had a delicious gourmet menu. and the little bar just off the beach was a great place to grab a few beers and soak up the great atmosphere.

The nearby Greek and Roman ruins were a good surprise, enhancing our cultural experience. The evening terrace ambiance, paired with friendly staff, made every meal enjoyable.

Very friendly atmosphere at the Hotel - and reception staff attentive to individual requests. A "Can Do" mentality describes the hotel staff rather well. It is also just next door to a very significant, ancient Greek + Roman settlement site, first excavated in 1908. Well worth a visit - so it is of interest to those interested in archeological discoveries, still with a great deal of discovering to accomplish.
The restaurant for dinner is quite pricey, though of excellent quality, with good service to match. An evening's "fixed price" menu as well as the "a la carte" could well ensure a full dining room, which the chef deserves. The tourist restaurants in the nearby town of L'Escala leave much to be desired and are just not worth the effort of going out for. One should be able to eat out well for three persons for less than €100 (which is what I would pay for a good meal out for three in Kensington, including wine).

The approach from the carpark view of the sea through the reception area is teriffic. The location of the hotel on the sea shore if fantastic. We stayed in September and had wonderful weather and a sea view room. Excellent food and not too expensive. The reception manager Zaida who speaks perfect english was very helpful and kind. We will definitely return to this hotel.

Location: the hotel was very close to the coastline from there, surrounding nature, and the walking path to the town.

Hostal Empuries is in an idyllic setting in a small private cove right next to the Mediterranean. Everything from the interior design to the food is perfect and once you enter into hotel I could feel myself start to unwind almost immediately. The staff were excellent and added to the whole experience. We will definitely be returning for a longer stay next time.

great location but room needs updating
The location near the sea was amazing. Sitting on the terrace, sipping coffee while listening to the waves was very calming. The restaurant offered delicious meals.
The room, while spacious, appeared somewhat dated, with furnishings that seemed to need a refresh.

Fabulous place and area but room and particularly bathroom are too basic. For example no fridge for our wine, no glasses to drink from and no table on the balcony to put them on!
